can be expensive. But it is quite easy to live quite economically.
I have to be careful what I say, there follows my opinion and
I can't afford to get sued |
Shops
in Deia
|
The
Main Store
The store has a good range of food and non-food. English
and German are spoken and the staff are helpful when you ask.
I would have liked to have seen items visibly priced. I seemed
difficult for me to see what I was being charged for items.
I recommend not to pay by Credit Card as their machine was set
up to convert to UK pounds at an excessive rate. Also, please
try to pay with as close a cash as you can, and check any change
for odd coins. Closed Mondays. |
The
Tabac One of Deia's hidden secrets. A Traditional
shop!!! Not in an obvious main road position Up the hill
towards the church
The store has a fair range of food and some non-food. Their
fruit is mostly good. I find their bread good. English and German
are spoken and the staff are helpful when you ask. Everything
is clearly priced, and cheaper than the main store. Paying
by Credit Card worked out OK as I was given a choice of currency.
Open Monday.<br> Closes for "lunch" 2:30pm until 4.30
|
The
Farmacia Almost anything that you would expect to
find in a Pharmacy Reasonably priced.

Wider
afield, by bus

Eroski
Soller The nearest medium sized supermarket.
Just a short walk from the Bus Station. Open 9am to 21:00
every day except Sunday. The only place to shop at 3.30pm.
Has cheap water, beer and reasonable wine. Cost on the bus 1.50Euro
each way. fresh fruit in reasonable condition |
Ice
cream = Soller We find Giovanni, in the main square
to have the best Ice Cream. 1.30 Euros per scoop. The Chocolate
is so thick with Choc, it is too strong for me. Ronalda really
loves it. The make their own Italian Ice Cream on the premises
daily. If you want to buy Ice Cream to take back the frozen
food store near the Bus Station is great.
|
Cheap
Non-Food Soller There is a good sized chinese bazaar
just near the bus station. Also the ironmongers on Carrer
Mar is a real treasure store. He even sold me 5 x 20mm bolts
for 36cents |
Valledemossa
for bread I like the bread from the bakery, 3 shop
on the right walking from the bus stop. Fare 1.50 Euros There
is also a small supermarket there that have has suited us.

Carrefour,
Palma This is on the Bus route, though you need to
check out where the pick up stop is for your return trip. Look
for Red/Yellow bus stop, NOT the Blue EMT stops. Carrefour
does not close for lunch, and is open for a time Sunday morning.
Here you can get almost anything. Well recommended for the weekly
shop. Don't forget to take bags that seal up, as you will
need to stack your load in the bus luggage box. Don't forget
that the 16:45 from Palma is a L211 and does not pick up at
the L210 stop. It is possible to use that bus, but you need
to find the stop near the Palma Eroski store
