The "Antiques Road Trip" came to Dewsbury Minster to discover our old Shaw's handbells, their restoration and take part in a performance. The programme will be broadcast on BBC1 TV at 3:45pm on Monday 19th August 2024, afterwards available on BBC iPlayer. The programme was filmed August 2023, when Margie Cooper came to Dewsbury Minster, Derek C Johnstone took her up the tower to find some of the 123 old handbells in a heap of banana boxes. Margie heard the story of the bells. 25 of the bells were restored about 10 years ago and Margie joined one of our practices, led by Ronalda Johnstone, to give an exclusive performance to Mark Hill when he arrived.
